Founded in 1925, No-Ruz Grotto has proudly served the Evansville community and surrounding Tri-State region for more than a century. As a constituent Grotto of Grottoes International, No-Ruz is a Masonic organization dedicated to fellowship, fun, charity, and community service.
Membership is open to Master Masons who are looking to build lasting friendships while supporting worthwhile causes and enjoying the unique traditions of the Mystic Order of Veiled Prophets of the Enchanted Realm.
Today, No-Ruz Grotto continues to welcome new members while honoring the traditions established by those who came before us.
No-Ruz Grotto was chartered in 1925, becoming part of the growing Grotto movement that had spread across the United States in the early twentieth century.
Throughout its history, No-Ruz has brought together generations of Prophets through fellowship, family activities, charitable work, and support of Freemasonry. As we enter our second century, we remain committed to preserving our traditions while building for the future.
For many years, No-Ruz Grotto called the historic Shackelford Mansion in downtown Evansville home.
Constructed in 1869 for Civil War Brigadier General James Murrell Shackelford, the mansion was one of Evansville's finest residences and remains an important landmark in the city's history. During No-Ruz's years in the mansion, countless meetings, celebrations, and special events were held within its walls, making it a cherished part of our organization's heritage.
Although the Grotto has since relocated, the Shackelford Mansion remains an important chapter in the story of No-Ruz Grotto.
As No-Ruz Grotto begins its second century, we remain dedicated to our mission of fellowship, charity, and service. We invite all qualified Master Masons to join us as we continue building on the legacy established in 1925.
Good Fellowship Lives Here.
